  • Based on the outcome of the Self Regulation Inventory & Work Habits Self Assessments, provide a summary of your perceived areas of strength and needed areas of improvement.

  • Based on the Assessments, i feel like i have strengths in long term memory of the material I am studying and being able to apply it to other situations. By doing so, this helps my understanding of whats at hand. Though, in areas of organization and distraction, I some times lack the focus needed. Though I am motivated to learn the material, small distractions such as music or people will take me away, for a brief time, from the objective at hand.
  • What is it that you hope to know and be able to do at the conclusion of the class?
  • At the conclusion of the class i hope to have a well understanding of theory. I also hope to apply it to playing guitar and bass as well as somewhat learning piano. Theory would help me take a big step in my musical process and understanding. Improvisation would be easier as well as sight reading and quickly telling the qualities about a piece of music.
  • How motivated are you to achieve these goals?

  • I am motivated for my own self pleasure. As I said above, theory would help me take a step in my musical career.
  • How will you increase your motivation if it becomes low during the course of the semester?

  • To increase my motivation all i would simply have to do is either pick up a guitar and use what I have learned up to that point. Doing so would inspire me to learn more.
  • What strategies can you use to achieve your goals?

  • When I lean i take a lot of notes in a book. This not only helps memorization but also gives me reference to refer back to. Another strategy i usually use is applying what I have learned to other problems and challenges. This gives me a better understanding of the material at hand and also prepares me for what is next.
  • What might interfere with your achievement and how can you prevent this interference?

  • One thing that might interfere with my achievement is the amount of free time I have. My fall/winter schedule is pretty clear though I do have other activities and commitments i must follow through on such as homework, chores, and extra circulars. I can avoid this interference by scheduling my day out correcting and scheduling time for each activity.
